Where to Eat in Cabo: A Foodie’s Guide

by caborealestate.com

Los Cabos is full of incredible dining options, but with so many choices, it can be tricky to know where to go. As two self-proclaimed foodies, we’ve spent years exploring the restaurant scene in Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. Today, we’re sharing some of our favorite spots so you can skip the trial-and-error and go straight to the good stuff.

Breakfast Spots Worth Waking Up For

Eggcentrico – Cabo San Lucas
Across the street from our office is one of our go-to breakfast spots: Eggentrico. Their egg sandwiches with scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and homemade biscuits are legendary. At one point, we were going there daily until the owner jokingly cut us off to save us from our butter intake. Fresh, locally sourced ingredients and hearty portions make this place unforgettable.

Rubas – San José del Cabo
In the heart of San José, Rubas is a bakery-meets-café with some of the best breakfast plates around. Think Eggs Benedict on a croissant, birria sandwiches, and chilaquiles with bakery flair. They bake all their bread in-house, the juices are fresh, and the prices won’t break the bank.

Hoja Santa – Cabo San Lucas
Known for its creative twists on traditional Mexican breakfast dishes, Hoja Santa is a hidden gem away from tourist crowds. Try their chilaquiles with birria or carnitas omelet—flavors you won’t find elsewhere.

El Huerto – Cabo San Lucas
A beautiful farm-to-table restaurant with gardens, hillside views, and dishes like braised rib burritos and French toast. The setting alone makes it worth the trip, and the food is equally impressive.

Panache – Cabo San Lucas
One of the best places for creative toast dishes. Their avocado toast with carnitas is next level. A great spot for both breakfast and all-day dining.

Local Favorites – Cabo San Lucas
For authentic, affordable breakfasts:

  • El Campestre – Big portions, comida corrida, and incredible value.
  • Frida’s – Don’t miss the chile relleno stuffed with shrimp and chipotle.
  • Stoplight (Semáforo) – A hidden breakfast gem where you’ll rarely spend more than $10.

The Choyero Picnic: A Cabo Tradition

If you want to eat like the locals, try a Choyero picnic. Stop by a seafood joint like El Paseñito or Tostadas El Moy, grab fresh ceviche, aguachile, or tostadas, pack a cooler, and head to the beach. Chileno, Santa Maria, or Palmilla are perfect spots. Add some beers or a coconut horchata (“cocorchata”) for the full experience.

If you’d rather skip the setup, places like Señor Pez or the beach club at Hotel El Ganzo offer the same vibe with hammocks, cocktails, and swimmable beaches—everything taken care of for you.

Seafood & Ceviche - Cabo’s seafood is second to none, and ceviche is everywhere. Some of our go-to spots include:

  • Aleta Negra – Now with a downtown Cabo location, it’s one of our favorite ceviche places.
  • El Pescadito Break – A beachfront spot with cocktails, ceviche, and your toes in the sand.
  • Señor Pez – Rustic beach cabanas halfway between San Lucas and San José, perfect for tuna tostadas.

Tacos - You can’t talk about Cabo without tacos.

  • Tacos El Memo (San José) – Famous for chile-stuffed tacos (marlin, shrimp, or meat) and 12 different sauces. Order them on flour tortillas—trust us.
  • La Lupita (Cabo & San José) – A gourmet taco spot with creative twists like lengua tacos or cheese “tortilla” pastor. Great during the San José Art Walk.
  • Local seafood taco stands – Venture off the main tourist drag and you’ll find incredible, budget-friendly options packed with locals.

Restaurants with a View - Sometimes the setting is as memorable as the meal.

  • Baja Brewing (Cabo) – Craft beer, pizzas, and sweeping views of the Arch.
  • 360 at Hotel Corazón (Cabo) – Same view, higher up, with an infinity pool—but pricier.
  • Torote (El Tezal) – Elevated dining with mountain and ocean views.
  • Sunset de Mona Lisa & Jazz on the Rocks – Iconic sunset views. Go fancy at Mona Lisa for a special occasion, or keep it casual with pizza and jazz at Jazz on the Rocks.

Dinner Favorites

  • Maria Jimenez (Cabo) – A cozy, cash-only spot inside an old brick house. Try the chicken mole.
  • Agave (San José) – Known for its wood-fired octopus with Spanish sausage and habanero cream.
  • Flavia (San José) – Incredible pizza, comparable to Naples, Italy.
  • Come a Casa (San José) – Handmade pasta and pizza from a local family.
  • Salvatore G’s (Cabo) – A long-time favorite for hearty Italian dishes.

Final Thoughts

Cabo is a foodie paradise, but many of the best spots aren’t where tourists usually go. Whether you’re after a bougie farm-to-table brunch, a taco under a bridge, or a picnic on the beach with ceviche and cocorchata, Los Cabos has it all.

Bring your appetite—and maybe a little extra room in your suitcase for stretchy pants.
